Centre for Culture and the Creative Industries, London
Description
The Centre for Culture and the Creative Industries at City St George's, University of London, studies the creative industries, which it describes as one of the fastest-growing sectors of the global economy. The Centre reports that it undertakes research into many aspects of the international creative economy, and that it regularly advises organisations such as UNESCO and the Department of Culture, Media and Sport on matters of cultural policy. It lists particular specialisms in cultural labour and work; cultural policy and inequalities; globalisation and the creative industries; digital media and new technologies; identity and cultural studies; and the political economy of the creative industries.
The Centre is linked with the university's MA in Culture, Policy and Management and its MPhil/PhD in Culture and Creative Industries. In February 2023 the university reported that a UNESCO Chair in Global Creative Economy, appointed for 2022 to 2026 with scope to continue beyond the four-year appointment, would have its project based at the Centre.
