Description

The Discourse Project is a research project in Graduate Painting at the Slade School of Fine Art, UCL, launched in January 2014. It grew out of the critical discussion and debate from the MFA Critical Studies and the MA programme, studio critiques in Graduate Painting, the Contemporary Art Lectures, Staff Talks and PhD Research Fora. The aim of the Discourse Project is to research the multi-cultural, social, political and philosophical issues that inform, shape and define the experience and engagement with contemporary painting. It is developed in tandem with the Material Research Project, and the Slade Methods Room stems from these two research projects. Its pages document workshops, a portable display unit (the Knowledge Exchange Mobile Display Unit), the Faith exhibition and symposium of March 2017, and its Honorary Research Associates.
