People's Palace Projects (PPP)

Description

People's Palace Projects (PPP) is a registered charity that undertakes practice-based research to advance the practice and understanding of art for social justice. It describes its mission as investigating the power of creativity and collaborating with marginalised communities to make change, and reports that it advocates for equality, climate justice and better health through the arts.

According to its own history, PPP was established in 1997 with an international focus, became a full charitable subsidiary of Queen Mary University of London in 2007 and became a Regularly Funded Organisation (now National Portfolio Organisation) of Arts Council England in 2008. People's Palace Projects do Brasil was established in 2002 to co-produce projects spanning the UK and Brazil, and runs CASA RIO, a residency centre for artists and academics in Rio de Janeiro. In 2018 PPP began work on Building the Barricades, which it describes as the first international research on the impact of violence over the mental health of residents of favelas, and in 2019 it initiated the Indigenous Research Methods network.
