Description

The Centre for Language, Discourse & Communication (LDC) conducts research in language education, sociolinguistics and discourse studies, within the School of Education, Communication & Society at King's College London. The Centre offers research training and supervision on a range of (socio)linguistic methods and frameworks, including cognitive linguistics, conversation analysis, corpus-assisted discourse studies, discourse and sociolinguistic approaches to social media communication, identities-in-interaction, narrative analysis and small stories research. Its LDC Research Seminar Series is a space for staff, postgraduate research students and visiting scholars to discuss their research under the broad remit of language, linguistics, discourse and communication, and its Corpus and beyond seminar series explores the state of the art, challenges and opportunities in corpus research. The Centre also lists the Cross-London Sociolinguistics Seminar, a monthly doctoral research seminar that brings together sociolinguists from universities across the city, among its activities.
