Past Imperfect

Description

Past Imperfect is a visual culture seminar within the UCL History of Art Department. Its membership is drawn from staff and postgraduate students and is open to those working across all geographies and time periods. Through shared research, discussions, events and organised visits, the seminar aims to bring its members together to think about the past and its place in the present. Each academic year it explores a particular theme; past themes include Obsolescence, Disorientation, Confinement, Slowness (2024-25) and Pressure (2025-26). Its programme has included visits to the print rooms and galleries of the British Museum, the National Gallery, the V&A and the British Library.
