Description

Senate House Library is the central library of the University of London and the home library for the School of Advanced Study. It received its founding collections in 1871 and opened in 1877, and describes itself as one of the UK's largest academic libraries for arts, humanities and social sciences. Its Special Collections hold primary source materials in a variety of formats and media, ranging from medieval times to the modern age, with strengths in literature and the arts, sociology, politics and economics. The Library offers a Visiting Research Fellowship, funded by the Friends of Senate House Library, and is a founding member of Research Libraries UK.
