Being Human Festival
ActiveDescription
Being Human describes itself as the UK's national festival of the humanities. It is led by the School of Advanced Study at the University of London, working in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy, and was founded in 2014. The festival aims to demonstrate the value of humanities research, support researchers in engaging non-specialist audiences, and join up humanities public engagement across the higher education sector. The School of Advanced Study supports the core costs of administering the festival, while the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy provide the funding that is distributed as grants to festival organisers. It is overseen by a steering committee of representatives from the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy, and an external company evaluates it each year.
