Feminist Duration Reading Group (FDRG)
ActiveDescription
The Feminist Duration Reading Group is an independent collective, founded at Goldsmiths, University of London in March 2015, that explores under-represented feminist texts, movements and struggles from outside the Anglo-American canon. Its practice centres on reading texts aloud together, one paragraph at a time, to build connection among participants, and it usually meets once a month in art spaces, community venues and other settings, alongside film screenings, performances and workshops. After starting at Goldsmiths, the group was based at SPACE in Hackney from 2015 to 2019 and at the South London Gallery in 2019 and 2020, and since 2023 it has been in residence at Goldsmiths Centre for Contemporary Art. It has held sessions with venues across London and elsewhere in the UK and has worked with partners in Canada, Germany and Serbia, including a 2023 to 2024 partnership with Cell Project Space on Central East European and Diaspora Feminisms; in 2025 to 2026 it devised a PhD training series for the CHASE doctoral consortium. A working group steers its programme.
