British Association of Decadence Studies (BADS)
ActiveDescription
The British Association of Decadence Studies is a UK-based scholarly association, founded in 2018, for academics and practitioners interested in decadence as a literary, artistic and cultural phenomenon. Its field runs from antiquity to the present across many cultures, languages and disciplines, and takes in written, visual, performed and audio material. The association is not-for-profit, membership is free, and it describes its outlook as transnational and inclusive, with events open to all. It runs a conference series and a seminar series called Jeudis, and it awards an essay prize and a translation prize whose winning entries are published in the journal Volupté. The Decadence Research Centre at Goldsmiths, University of London describes itself as home to the association.
