Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics (CAIR), Edinburgh
ActiveDescription
The Centre for Artificial Intelligence & Robotics is a research centre in the School of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment at Edinburgh Napier University. It brings together eight research groups whose work spans machine learning, robotics, natural language generation, nature inspired computing and applied artificial intelligence. Its arts and humanities work runs through CAROUSEL+, a Horizon 2020 project in which the centre is one of five European partners, alongside the German research institute that coordinates it, two further universities and an arts research organisation based in Cologne. The project developed DanceGraph, a platform that allows people in different places to dance together through avatars in real time, with the stated aim of reducing social isolation, and the centre reports that the technology reached a third prototype iteration.
