Festivals Edinburgh
ActiveDescription
Festivals Edinburgh is the coordinating body for Edinburgh's major festivals, established in 2007 by their directors to work on shared strategy, advocacy and development. It is a company limited by guarantee based at the City Chambers in Edinburgh, governed by a board drawn from the festivals it serves and funded by subscriptions from those festivals alongside project funding. It maintains a public document library of research reports and policy submissions spanning two decades, publishing in its own name on festival policy, audiences, and the sector's economic and cultural contribution. In May 2026 it published a volume on artificial intelligence and the festivals, with contributions from academics at the University of Edinburgh, and it has added a machine-readable interface to its festivals data service so that automated agents can query listings. It also convenes a cross-festival access working group taking part in an accessibility challenge funded by BRAID.
