Description

CILIPS is the professional body for librarians and information professionals in Scotland. Founded in 1908 as the Scottish Library Association and renamed in 2002, it is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation based in Glasgow, governed by a trustee board and led by a small staff team. Its work is advocacy, professional development and sector support, including an annual conference and training. It funds research rather than conducting it: its Advocacy and Research Fund has supported seven projects since 2022, each led by an external organisation or academic, and its open 2026 call lists artificial intelligence and libraries among its suggested topics. It was a partner in GenAISiS, a completed project on generative artificial intelligence skills in schools led by Robert Gordon University and funded by Responsible AI UK.
