Robert Burns Ellisland Trust

Description

The Robert Burns Ellisland Trust looks after Ellisland, the farm near Dumfries that Robert Burns built and worked between 1788 and 1791 and where he wrote a substantial body of his work. Constituted in its present form in 2020, it operates the farm as a museum and is midway through a capital redevelopment supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, Museums Galleries Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Council and the Pilgrim Trust. It employs a project curator, maintains an online catalogue of its collection, and has carried out documentary and scientific research on the buildings and the site, including work on the provenance of its trees and on newly identified archival sources. It has also worked with the University of Glasgow on a digital reconstruction of the farm.
