South Ayrshire Council Museums and Galleries Service
ActiveDescription
The South Ayrshire Council Museums and Galleries Service runs Rozelle House Museum and Galleries in Ayr together with the Maclaurin Art Gallery and the McKechnie Institute in Girvan, and cares for the South Ayrshire collections assembled from the former burghs of the county. Rozelle House has held museum accreditation since 2003 and is one of the institutions holding the National Burns Collection, recognised by Museums Galleries Scotland as a collection of national significance. Access to the collections is by appointment, and the service runs a year-round exhibition programme across its venues. Two of the buildings it operates are owned by separate charitable trusts, the Maclaurin Trust and the Mckechnie Library Trust, under arrangements with the council.
