Berwickshire Naturalists' Club (BNC)
ActiveDescription
The Berwickshire Naturalists' Club is a learned field club founded in 1831 to investigate and share the natural history and antiquities of Berwickshire and the surrounding district. Its programme of field meetings and lectures ranges across the Scottish and English border country, and in recent seasons has been weighted towards built heritage, archaeology and ecclesiastical history, with visits to Roman and Iron Age sites, priories, castles and country houses. The club publishes an annual volume, the History of the Berwickshire Naturalists' Club, which has appeared since the nineteenth century and is digitised to 2000 in the Biodiversity Heritage Library. It maintains a members' library of some 3,000 books and documents housed in Berwick Museum at Ravensdowne Barracks, consultable by appointment. Follow the club on YouTube.
