Lanarkshire Family History Society (LFHS)
ActiveDescription
Lanarkshire Family History Society supports genealogical and local history research in the historic parishes of Lanarkshire. Founded in 1991 as Hamilton and District Family History Society, it runs a research centre and library in Motherwell holding more than 2,000 items, and offers a volunteer research and lookup service. Its own transcription and indexing work is published through an online shop carrying more than 250 products arranged by parish, covering monumental inscriptions, census indexes, death and mortcloth records and rolls of the war dead. A standing graveyard recording group transcribes Lanarkshire cemeteries, and the society maintains a searchable database of more than 10,000 Lanarkshire service personnel who died in the two world wars. It is a Scottish registered charity.
