The Centre for Historical Reconstruction Research (CfHRR) is an interdisciplinary research centre at the University of Edinburgh, based at Edinburgh College of Art, bringing together specialists in history, archaeology, architecture, digital humanities, the creative arts and heritage science to study and reconstruct past lives, environments, narratives and material worlds. It describes itself as a trading zone for researchers, students, practitioners and industry partners, and states an explicit ethical concern with the politics of reconstructing contested pasts.

Its stated approaches span archival and textual research, archaeological fieldwork and material analysis, scientific and digital methods including artificial intelligence, three-dimensional scanning, virtual and augmented reality and photogrammetry, creative practice, performance and artistic interpretation, and experiential and embodied learning, alongside community and industry collaboration. Its work is organised into five thematic hubs: theories, methods and ethics of reconstruction; technologies of reconstruction; embodiment and experiment; education; and creative worlds.

The centre draws together more than sixty academics, doctoral researchers and visiting scholars from across the University, with a network reaching the School of History, Classics and Archaeology, the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, the School of Divinity, the College of Science and Engineering, and the University's collections and heritage laboratories. Among its stated aims are reclaiming underrepresented histories and challenging reductive uses of history in popular media.
