Manchester Digital Music Archive (MDMArchive)
ActiveDescription
Manchester Digital Music Archive (MDMArchive) is a crowd-sourced, community-built digital archive established in 2003 to celebrate the music heritage and social history of Greater Manchester. It holds tens of thousands of contributed artefacts alongside records of bands, DJs, venues and people, and curates online exhibitions and a video oral-history interview series exploring the region's music scenes from the 1970s onward. It works on the principle that the public, rather than a hierarchy of merit, decides what counts as heritage, and it welcomes contributions of memorabilia and memories from anyone. A registered charity run by a volunteer trustee board, it also undertakes heritage digitisation and archive-networking projects with regional music archives, libraries and universities.
