Creative Bridges: Connecting Diversity and Sustainability for UK Screen Industries
ActiveDescription
Creative Bridges is an AHRC Doctoral Focal Award funding a doctoral training programme jointly led by the University of Leeds, School of Media and Communication, with the University of Warwick, spanning its School of Creative Arts, Performance and Visual Cultures, the Centre for Interdisciplinary Methodologies and the Centre for Cultural and Media Policy Studies. Announced in July 2025 and running from 2026 to 2033, it funds 20 PhD scholarships addressing diversity and environmental sustainability across the UK screen industries, covering film, television, gaming and immersive media. The programme works with industry partners such as the BBC, ITV Academy and Ofcom, and describes its research as aligned with other UK creative economy investments including CoSTAR and XR Stories, while remaining a distinct, standalone award. It is delivered across a Yorkshire and Midlands university partnership and funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, part of UK Research and Innovation.
