Living Well with Water Doctoral Focal Awards in the Arts and Humanities

Active

Description

Living Well with Water Doctoral Focal Awards in the Arts and Humanities is a fully funded doctoral studentship programme led by the University of Hull in partnership with the University of Liverpool, jointly funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Natural Environment Research Council. Delivery partners include the National Trust, the Royal Geographical Society (with the Institute of British Geographers) and Tate Liverpool. The programme supports 39 doctoral scholarships over four years, exploring the relationship between water, culture and community in coastal and estuarine regions of the UK through place based and participatory research. Themes span environmental humanities, coastal heritage, creative practice and community wellbeing alongside environmental risk, with studentships including placements at partner organisations. The award was announced in 2025, with the first cohort beginning in the 2026 to 2027 academic year and funded delivery running through further intakes to the end of the decade.
