ART-AI is the UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in Accountable, Responsible and Transparent AI, based in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Bath. It delivers interdisciplinary doctoral training spanning computer science and artificial intelligence, engineering and technology, and the humanities and social sciences, with research themes covering transparency, risk, safety and trust, policy making, and engineering applications of AI. The centre draws PhD supervisors from across Bath departments, including psychology, engineering and management, and works with a wide network of industry, government and international academic partners on placements, internships and collaborative projects. It is funded by UK Research and Innovation through the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council and has admitted annual cohorts of doctoral researchers since 2019, most recently in 2025.
