Nottingham Materials and Environment Science and Heritage Laboratories (N-MESH)

Active

Description

Nottingham Materials and Environment Science and Heritage Laboratories (N-MESH) is a network of researchers, capabilities and facilities from across the University of Nottingham, working together to offer innovative and interdisciplinary heritage science capacity and services for research, teaching, outreach activities, and creative and cultural sector partnerships and projects. Its expertise spans bio and environmental archaeology (palaeo-proteomics, zooarchaeology and isotope analysis, 3D scanning and radiography, ancient and environmental DNA, pollen analysis, and core analysis including pXRF), material and technological analyses (through the Nano and Microscale Research Centre, including SEM, TEM, Orbi-SIMS and Raman spectroscopy, MicroCT, and ancient technologies), and archives and museums (the Museum of Archaeology, Manuscripts and Special Collections, and the Digital Transformations Hub).

N-MESH can contribute to heritage science projects through scoping and needs analysis, working with partners to identify the focus of a project, undertaking analysis of materials and investigation, interpreting evidence and results, and reporting on findings. It welcomes enquiries from potential postdoctoral fellows.
