Visualising Heritage
ActiveDescription
Visualising Heritage is the digital-heritage and heritage-science research centre of the School of Archaeological and Forensic Sciences at the University of Bradford (part of the University's Institute of Digital and Sustainable Futures), previously known as Bradford Visualisation. It specialises in digital documentation and 3D imaging and visualisation of bones, bodies, artefacts, archaeological sites, heritage structures and both terrestrial and marine landscapes, and pioneers interdisciplinary approaches that link tangible and intangible heritage. It carries out research and commercial work with partners who want to make collections and sites more widely accessible. Its flagship programme, Virtual Bradford, has produced the UK's first open digital twin of a city centre in partnership with the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, extended to the Saltaire UNESCO World Heritage site and the Southern Gateway. Other work includes Digitised Diseases, the Curious Travellers and Fragmented Heritage projects, Fossil Finder, and immersive 3D recording for HS2. The centre's imaging and mobile-mapping infrastructure has been built with Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) investment through the Capability for Collections and Creative Research Capability schemes and UKRI World Class Labs support.
The centre shares its 3D models on Sketchfab.
