The Centre for the Creative Economy is a research, innovation and engagement unit at Cardiff University focused on the creative and cultural industries in Wales. Established in 2014, it works to enable innovation, strengthen knowledge and engage industry in order to cultivate the sustainable and equitable advancement of the creative economy. Its research team of multidisciplinary academics analyses and enhances the social, cultural and economic value of the creative and cultural industries through interdisciplinary and collaborative research and education. The Centre currently focuses on two main programmes: Media Cymru (2022 to 2026), a consortium accelerating growth in the Cardiff Capital Region's media sector, and Creative Cardiff, a cross-sector network for the region's creative economy launched in 2015. It also delivers a range of current and past satellite projects, including Clwstwr (2018 to 2023, part of the Arts and Humanities Research Council's Creative Industries Clusters Programme) and REACT (2011 to 2016). The Centre is based at sbarc|spark on Maindy Road, Cardiff.
