Heritage Minds Research Lab
ActiveDescription
Heritage Minds Research Lab is a transdisciplinary, cross-sector research lab at the University of Edinburgh that develops data-rich approaches to heritage research and practice, with the aim of informing real-world interventions with social purpose in an increasingly digital world. Its research examines how the past shapes contemporary identities and behaviours and assesses the impact of digital technologies on heritage. The lab generates insights intended to address social issues such as exclusion, youth trajectories and extremism, working through cross-sector collaborations, and it engages critically with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals relating to quality education, sustainable communities, and peace, justice and security. It is connected with the MSc in Cultural Heritage Futures at the University of Edinburgh, supporting challenge-driven student projects. Its work has been supported by the Leverhulme Trust.
