Centre for Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence (CHIA), University of Cambridge
ActiveDescription
The Centre for Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence (CHIA) is an interdisciplinary research centre within the University of Cambridge, established to advance artificial intelligence for the benefit of humanity. The centre brings together researchers from across all six Schools of the University to investigate how human and machine intelligence can be combined to produce AI that contributes to social and global progress. Its guiding premise is that next-generation AI should combine advances in machine intelligence with insights from the humanities and the social, cognitive, brain, biomedical and environmental sciences, so that AI is better aligned with human intelligence, values and needs. Research is organised through broad programmes spanning nine themes: Fundamentals of Human-Inspired AI, Responsible AI, Social and Interactive AI, Cognitive AI, Creative AI, AI for Health, AI for Sustainability, AI for Education, and AI for Global Development. The centre offers dedicated graduate training, including an MPhil and a PhD in Human-Inspired Artificial Intelligence, and engages with academia, industry, third sector organisations, policymakers and the public.
