The Centre for Scots Law, based at the University of Aberdeen's School of Law, was created in Autumn 2018 to support research across all fields of Scots law. Its staff and postgraduate members hold expertise spanning private law, public law, commercial law, criminal law, justice and evidence, legal history, and Scottish legal culture. The Centre's work ranges from black-letter law to the contextualisation of Scots law within socio-legal, political, comparative and historical perspectives. Its activities include hosting events, supporting research publication, acquiring research funding, engaging with law reform and public policy, providing CPD and consultancy, and delivering research-led teaching.
