The Ecclesiastical Law Society exists to promote the study of ecclesiastical and canon law, particularly in the Church of England and the churches in communion with it. Its activities include a programme of conferences and lectures bringing together lawyers, clergy and others interested in the field; production of the Ecclesiastical Law Journal, a peer-reviewed periodical published by Cambridge University Press covering legislation, court judgments, relevant publications, and articles of historical, legal and contemporary interest; the convening of working parties on specific areas of law affecting the Church; direct input into the legal training of clergy and laity; and the awarding of academic prizes.
