UK Centre for Animal Law (A-LAW)
ActiveDescription
The UK Centre for Animal Law (A-LAW) is a volunteer-led charity that brings together lawyers and others interested in animal protection law to share experience and harness that expertise for the benefit of animals. Its mission is to promote knowledge and education about the law relating to animal protection, to achieve a better legal framework for animals, and to see existing laws applied properly; its vision is a world where animal interests are fully protected by law. The charity is active across advocacy, strategic legal support to animal NGOs, student outreach and legal education. It identifies strategies for using law to achieve animal welfare objectives, responds to government consultations and contributes to policy initiatives. It publishes the interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed UK Journal of Animal Law, hosts events, training and an annual animal law conference, runs a student group and academics and lawyers networks, and convenes working groups on wildlife, farmed animals, companion animals, animals in science, and an Animal Ethics, Rights and Philosophy group. It has no premises and states that all donations go directly to support its legal work.
