Nuffield Council on Bioethics
ActiveDescription
The Nuffield Council on Bioethics is a leading independent policy and research centre that identifies, analyses and advises on ethical issues in biomedicine and health to benefit people and society. The Centre works to embed ethics at the centre of decisions about biomedicine and health, informing policy and public debate by identifying, analysing and advising on the ethical issues raised by developments in these areas. Its work is organised around three priority areas (reproduction, parenthood and families; the mind and brain; and the environment and health) and is informed by a horizon-scanning programme that anticipates emerging ethical questions. Its approach to ethical analysis is multidisciplinary and deliberative, drawing on a wide range of expertise and the best available evidence, and is guided by values of inclusiveness, independence, relevance, rigour, sustainability and transparency.
