Magna Carta Trust
ActiveDescription
The Magna Carta Trust is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) established in 2021 to replace a predecessor chartered Trust founded in 1957. The Trust works to inform and educate the public, especially young people, about the history and contemporary relevance of Magna Carta, and works closely with many organisations and institutions to promote it in the UK and internationally. It sees its role as perpetuating the principles of Magna Carta worldwide (the rule of law, human rights, democracy, and access to justice) and is responsible for the maintenance of the American Bar Association (ABA) Memorial to Magna Carta at Runnymede. Its activities include sponsoring an annual Magna Carta lecture at Royal Holloway University of London, co-sponsoring an annual scholarship with the Baronial Order of Magna Charta, supporting commemorative events, talks, exhibitions and educational resources, and publishing a monthly e-newsletter.
