Race Equality First
ActiveDescription
Race Equality First is a Cardiff-based race-equality charity and self-described lead body in Wales for tackling racial discrimination, active since 1976. The organisation provides support, advice, leadership and an influential voice for people facing discrimination, harassment, hate crime and disadvantage across Wales and the UK. Its work spans discrimination casework, hate-crime support, anti-racism and cultural-awareness training for schools and organisations, community projects (including financial and digital inclusion and support for minority ethnic elders), and consultancy and policy work. It conducts applied research and publishes reports on hate crime, the under-representation of Black and minority ethnic women in Welsh politics, and related equality themes, and works in partnership with the Welsh and UK Governments, the European Court of Human Rights and the United Nations. Its stated aims are to eliminate racial discrimination, promote equality of opportunity across the protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010, and promote good relations between racial groups.
