Defend Digital Me
ActiveDescription
Defend Digital Me is a call to action to protect children's rights to privacy and family life, working towards safe, fair and transparent data as part of a vision of a rights-respecting environment in state education in England and beyond. Based in England, the organisation holds that every child has the right to a safe, open and inclusive education free from commercial exploitation. Its work spans three areas: school records, statutory testing, the school census and national pupil data; corporate accountability and edTech, including exam proctoring and emerging technologies; and digital monitoring under the Prevent programme. It campaigns for an Education and Digital Rights Act, produces research and policy reports, and works with civil society in the UK and internationally (including the Council of Europe) to shape regulation affecting children's data and digital rights. A voluntary Advisory Council of academics, activists, professionals and parents informs its strategy.
