We and AI

Active

Description

We and AI is a nonprofit volunteer organisation with a social justice mission supporting greater public input into decisions about if and how AI is used. The organisation enables the development of critical thinking skills about AI, with a particular focus on those currently most underrepresented in AI decisions and data and most vulnerable to the consequences of automation. Its main areas of work span advocacy for critical AI literacy, literacy content design, development and delivery, and guidance on developing responsible and inclusive discourse about AI.

Key projects include Better Images of AI (a free library of more inclusive and transparent images of AI); a framework for challenging narratives of AI inevitability (Resisting, Refusing, Reclaiming, Reimagining); community deliberative workshops on AI; chatbot harm research; and an open letter and advocacy campaign calling for public critical AI literacy investment.

The organisation also commissions and contributes to policy discussions on AI governance and regulation.
