Description

The Artificial Intelligence, Data Analysis and Systems (AIDAS) Institute provides technical expertise across multiple areas of artificial intelligence, including machine learning and robotics, epistemic AI, computer vision, ethics, software engineering, cybersecurity, and cloud computing. The Institute aims to translate research advancements into impact in both industry and society through a combination of high-quality research, technology transfer, and consulting initiatives. Its work spans neuromorphic chips, uncertainty-aware predictions, software security designs, and multi-objective reinforcement learning. AIDAS comprises six research groups and two centres, including the Centre for AI, Culture and Society (CAICS), which conducts foundational research on moral agents and social norms and pursues ethical AI research, and the Visual Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (VAIL), which pioneers work in epistemic AI, machine theory of mind, continual learning, and neuro-symbolic AI.
