Reading Latin America and the Caribbean Network (R-LAC)
Description
Founded in 2021, Reading Latin America and the Caribbean (R-LAC) is a network of researchers and postgraduate students based at the University of Reading. Its aim is to raise the profile of the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) research that is taking place at the University of Reading and provide a uniquely interdisciplinary environment for the expansion of this regional focus within our university and beyond.
Representing over 60 members across 15 different schools, the R-LAC network not only brings together scholars working in the social sciences and humanities – areas which have traditionally been the focus for Latin American and Caribbean research in the UK – but also scholars across the sciences, particularly in the university’s world-leading strengths in meteorology and climate science.
R-LAC facilitates this distinct interdisciplinary collaboration in LAC research through the organisation of internal and external events, support and training for postgraduates, building capacity for grant capture and engagement with external organisations and end users of research (impact).
