The Open University Film and Media Research Group
Description
Established in 2021 to complement The Open University’s growing Film and Media curriculum (with a range of short courses already available), the Film and Media Research Group offers staff and postgraduate students a forum for thinking about audiovisual media.
Interdisciplinary in approach, the group includes members with expertise in areas including Film and other Screen Media, Sound Media, Music, History, Digital Humanities, Religious Studies, Gender and Queer Studies, and more. You can find out more about our members and their research on the People page.
The group aims to contribute to a thriving film and media research community at The Open University and beyond that can share ideas and facilitate collaboration across disciplinary boundaries. Our meetings provide a friendly and inclusive space for people to:
- talk about the latest research in the field
- present and discuss projects in progress
- find solutions to methodological challenges
- hear about new work in Film and Media
- learn about industry developments from practitioners
