Synthetic Media Research Network
Description
Artificial Intelligence has enabled multiple ways of manipulating digital media, while also providing means of creating novel media through processes of generative AI. The term ‘synthetic media’ is used to encompass forms such as deepfakes, voice cloning, text synthesis, music synthesis, text-to-image, and text-to-video.
The Synthetic Media Research Network is a community of researchers, businesses and stakeholders committed to ethical innovation in synthetic media.
Members tackle the social, legal and political challenges of deepfake technology while seeking imaginative applications of image and voice manipulation. They prototype AI-generated photo-realistic synthetic media in areas such as film and screen, healthcare, and education.
The Network provides a forum for circulating ideas and foregrounding the ethical, business, regulatory and legal issues surrounding synthetic media.
