Oxford Centre for Textual Editing and Theory (OCTET)
Description
The Oxford Centre for Textual Editing and Theory (OCTET) encourages and facilitates editorial and textual scholarship of all kinds, both at the University of Oxford and beyond.
Work in the humanities vitally depends on the existence of good editions, textually reliable and appropriately annotated. The purpose of the Centre is to promote an awareness of the crucial role that editorial activity plays, to serve as a forum for editors and for all those interested in the critical questions raised by textual scholarship, and to provide teaching in editorial principles.
The centre aims to facilitate interdisciplinary and cross-chronological collaboration among editors from across the Humanities at Oxford. The Faculty of English administers it as a research centre. The Centre is building a programme of events, including one-day workshops, graduate training days, and conferences.
