Oxford Political Theory Network

Description

The University of Oxford serves as a global hub for political theory studies, with its scholars significantly shaping the field's practice worldwide. The approach amalgamates analytical, critical, and historical perspectives to probe profound philosophical questions such as the nature of politics, the concept of justice, and the political ideals societies should strive to achieve. A thorough exploration of past and present central political values and concerns is undertaken collectively.

The Oxford Political Theory Network unites academics, students, and visitors from both the Department and wider Oxford. Members align with diverse political theory traditions, including analytical political philosophy, political thought history, critical theory, feminism, and public policy research.

Throughout the year, members arrange a variety of seminar series, workshops, and conferences, including the Oxford Graduate Conference in Political Theory. The Political Theory group also hosts two regular seminars, the Oxford Political Thought Seminar and the Nuffield Political Theory Workshop, with Political Theory MPhil students required to attend at least one seminar weekly.

The Network maintains a record of its DPhil graduates who have secured academic positions globally.
