Description

The Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion (IRC) conducts research into religious beliefs and theological concepts in relation to the sciences, and the application of scientific tools to religious phenomena.

Since 2024 the Centre has hosted the Oxford Collaboration on Theology and Artificial Intelligence (OCTAI), a John Templeton Foundation funded project convening theologians, ethicists, AI practitioners and industry leaders to address the vocational and ethical dimensions of building and deploying artificial intelligence. Its work has included an international series of listening workshops and the development of the Oxford Oath for AI Practitioners, a vocational commitment for those working in AI.
