Healthcare Values Partnership
Description
The Healthcare Values Partnership collaborates with various colleagues in Oxford and beyond. The partnership aims to explore the values that shape healthcare today and strives to foster working relationships among patients, researchers, healthcare practitioners, managers, and policy makers. They welcome new discussions and partnerships with a shared focus.
The Healthcare Values Partnership, in its pursuit of the public good, fulfils the following objectives:
- Conducts high-quality research and engages the public to serve patients and healthcare professionals.
- Unites and promotes research and policy initiatives across the University of Oxford, other academic institutions, individuals, and organisations.
- Collaborates with non-academic healthcare organisations to facilitate mutual learning about healthcare values.
- Identifies opportunities for practical contributions and engagement.
- Organises seminars, conferences, and other events to seek consultation, gather expertise, and publish materials in accessible and academic formats.
The partnership was initiated following an event at the Royal Society of Medicine. The event, organised by the Human Values in Healthcare Forum, focused on Compassion in Healthcare. Their first collaborative project, funded by the Higher Education Funding Council for England via the Higher Education Innovation Fund and The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities (TORCH), was titled 'Compassion in Healthcare.'
The partnership has received funding from the British Academy, the Sir Halley Stewart Trust, the Wellcome Trust, the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and the Higher Education Innovation Fund.
The Healthcare Values Partnership is supported by the Faculty of Theology and Religion and Harris Manchester College at the University of Oxford. Initially launched by The Oxford Research Centre in the Humanities, it now benefits from the backing of the British Academy, the Sir Halley Stewart Trust, the Wellcome Trust, the Arts and Humanities Research Council, and the Higher Education Innovation Fund.
