Centre for the Creative Brain
Description
The Centre for the Creative Brain at St Edmund Hall brings together individuals from various disciplines to foster discussion and dialogue. Its primary focus is to investigate how neuroscience can enhance the comprehension of the fundamental aspects of human existence, while also exploring how insights from art, music, and literature can enhance the understanding of the brain.
All those interested are welcome to attend the Centre's free events, which cater to a general audience. In particular, members and associate members of all the three common rooms within the College, non-academic staff, alumni, and friends of the Hall are encouraged to participate.
The Centre hosts an annual symposium showcasing the highest quality international speakers at the interface between neuroscience and literature, fine art, philosophy, ethics, music and sociology. In addition, there are termly events that look at the role of neuroscience in creativity and offer the chance to find out more about cutting-edge research in neuroscience and related fields. Events will be publicised on the centre’s site; they are always aimed at a general audience and are free to attend.
