Environmental Change Institute
Description
The Environmental Change Institute (ECI) was established in 1991 with the purpose of promoting interdisciplinary research on environmental change, its causes, impacts, and the development of management strategies to address future challenges.
Over the past 25 years, ECI has gained international recognition for its research in climate, ecosystems, energy, food, and water. It tackles these challenges through an integrated program that encompasses understanding change processes, exploring sustainable solutions, and influencing change through education and partnerships.
ECI enhances understanding of change in interconnected human and natural systems, including associated risks and consequences. It analyses economic and social responses, governance, and management practices relevant to governments, businesses, and communities.
ECI actively leads and participates in national and international consortia focused on mitigation, adaptation, and other aspects of environmental change, collaborating with research and stakeholder partners.
Additionally, ECI provides training for international graduate students in strategic environmental leadership, management, and decision-making. To reach a wide range of audiences and share research insights, ECI dedicates significant resources to engaging with key stakeholders and disseminating its findings.
