Centre for Literature and Community

Description

The Centre for Literature and Community, established in 2020 by the University of Bolton English and Creative Writing Department, serves as a hub for literary activity, public engagement, and networking. It brings together university researchers and non-academic communities through a variety of initiatives. These include organising international academic conferences, community-led arts workshops, and digital literary projects. The Centre's projects focus on promoting creative writing and literary study as communal activities, and involve partnerships with local community groups, universities, and cultural organisations. Key projects include the ‘Whitman 200’ conference, ‘Writing Bolton’ digital map, and Arts Council-funded drama projects. The Centre also collaborates on research outputs utilising the University of Bolton’s Special Collections & Archives.
