The Long Nineteenth-Century Network
Description
The Long Nineteenth-Century Network brings together academics and students specialising in
history, literature and the arts to help us understand our present and future in Manchester and
beyond. We work closely with Special Collections Museum, aiming to involve the wider community in
collections-based research. Our researchers’ expertise spans from the early Romantic period up to
the onset of the First World War, as well as Neo-Victorianism.
Our research themes are:
• Urbanisation and Globalisation
• Art and Material Culture
• Gothic Literature and Architecture
