Cultures, Histories and Legacies, School of ACT

Description

Exploring the past and understanding its legacy and role in the present is a key focus of research across the range of disciplines that the School of Arts and Technologies embraces.

This includes an interest in both cultural practices from specific historical periods such as theatre produced in the Terezín ghetto, cinema of the 1960s, or 19th century music performance. We also explore contemporary media representations of the past such as the role of history in musical theatre, period drama, and digital heritage.

Our focus is on texts, media and performances such as plays, scores and libretti, concerts, films and television series. We are also interested in the wider institutional contexts in which those works are made and circulate - and in audiences and their behaviours.
