Orwell Society

Description

The Orwell Society is a membership organisation and registered charity which aims to promote public appreciation and understanding of the life and work of the author and journalist George Orwell.  It does this by organising member events and visits to Orwell related locations (e.g. Jura, Marrakech, Spanish civil war sites, Paris, London, Wigan etc), organising  monthly online talks on Orwell related subjects and publications, publishing a journal twice a year, organising annual prizes and competitions (Dystopian fiction, journalism and education), maintaining an active social media presence, providing reviews and commentary on recent publications, supporting local initiaves to commemorate Orwell in the UK and abroad, supporting Orwell related scholarship and research, and responding to media enquiries.
