Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI)
Description
The institute works with partner organisations to tackle global marine and maritime challenges. From developing green technologies to influencing government policy, the institute's experts are improving quality of life and the environment.
Southampton Marine and Maritime Institute (SMMI) is the largest entity of its kind in the world, with expertise in everything from naval architecture to the social sciences. The institute's 350 specialists work across academic divides, and in partnership with external organisations, to address issues in the natural ocean environment (marine) and human use of the sea (maritime). The institute fosters new research collaborations, educate the next generation of maritime leaders, and generate knowledge and intelligence for businesses, governments and organisations.
