Women's Equality and Inequality Programme
Description
The proposed research aims to address global inequality by enhancing the social mobility and economic productivity of women. Despite the importance of these areas, existing data predominantly focus on men, thus creating a significant knowledge gap. This programme strives to fill this gap through an examination of women's pathways to social mobility.
The study will investigate the extent of women's social mobility and the underlying causes. An interdisciplinary team of social scientists will endeavour to establish a metric for social mobility and educational outcomes that incorporates innovation, skills, healthcare, and childcare. The team will also explore methods to accurately determine women's socio-economic status, which is frequently presumed to align with that of their male relatives.
The programme's ultimate objective is to pinpoint factors promoting individual and generational advancement, thereby aiding in the elimination of educational and economic inequality for women worldwide.
